Bridge Details and Valero Refinery
I took some shots of the lights on the side of the bridge, I liked the shapes of the lights shot you see here. The boat was cool. I was driving up Route 9 to get to Delaware City (it turns out that's the wrong way!) and came by the Valero facility right at sundown. Look at the colors in the exhaut, the deep blue of the sky and the bright lights! I came to a sharp halt when I was driving past the plant. I was wondering if they would hassle me, but they didn't.
Philly and C&D Canal Bridges
The top photo is of the inside of the Reading Terminal Market. It's about as multi-cultural in there as all get out! See how many groups you see represented. Photo 2 is on Arch street taken from the parking lot I was parked at. The bottom building with the dome is a church, the new building is the new Comcast Tower. It'll be a landmark in downtown Philly as it's pretty darn tall and shiny. Last year it was just a hole in the ground, it's supposed to open by the end of this year! The bottom 2 shots are of the underside of 2 different bridges over the C&D, the Saint Georges Bridge and the Route 1 bridge.
Trip to Philly
I had to go to Philadelpia for 2 days this week for some training. I took advantage of being up there by taking some photos downtown and at the Reading Terminal Market. The RTM is an old fashioned farmers market in the middle of town. I love the basil chicken at the Thai place right in the center of the market. The top photo is of some columns at the Masonic Temple, the apples are from inside the market.

Artsy
Late nite Chimpin
So, I've been following along at strobist.blogspot.com to figure out off camera lighting and how to get to the next level. In order to get this self portrait, I had to set up my new light stand, umbrella and strobe and wirelessly connect the camera and flash with pocket wizards. Then I figured out what the camera settings should be without the flash and the camera in manual, then, dropped the settings by two stops and messed with the flash to see what power it needed to be on to get this shot with a little bit of ambient lighting, some shadows and the all important catch light in the eyes. easy peasy!
Chimpin is camera slang for taking the shot, then looking at it in the LCD to admire the shots. Yeah, I cleaned the desk some too, chimpin ain't all bad!
