3 day honey-do Presidents day project
We spent the weekend putting up tile backsplash in the kitchen. It wasn't so much hard as pains taking. We think it's looking pretty good now. We got done doing the tiling today, and will do the grouting and stuff sometime this week. It's going to look great when it's grouted and caulked. (That's an inside family joke).
Beware of a fat man with a crow bar. I'm just sayin'.
That piece of trim had to come out from under the granite over the sink. We laid out the tile on the island to make sure how it was going to look installed.
The red lines are from a level. That first tile was the longest one to put in! We measured and talked and measured and talked till we were sure we got it right and hadn't missed anything. Then, the only thing left to do was start!
Intermediate shot. The green things are spacers
All done, except for the grouting and caulking.
I have to give props out to the folks at Lowes. We had borrowed a tile saw, but it was balky and I wasn't experienced enough to figure out the issues. We talked to Home Depot and they would rent us a saw for $65 a day. Lowes wouldn't rent them, but they would cut the tiles for us as long as we had bought them there. Lets see... no $65 a day charge, no wasted tiles from not having used a real tile saw, no chance of severed digits, no chance of feeling stupid for taking 3 tries to get it right, and friendly people to do it. That took about 8 seconds to figure out what we were going to to. It took several trips to the store, but it was so worth it! If you need to do Home Improvement stuff, check out Lowes!

I'm inside the family and I don't think that's funny! Phht to you! Kitchen looks great! I love exclamation points!
It has taken me almost 2 years to convince my husband we need to tile the backsplash... it will probably take another 2 years before he starts it. Hats off to you!
Koppi,
We've been here 8 years, you're 4 years ahead of me!
