9mm Luger Shells

9mm Luger Shells, originally uploaded by _davdog.

Tim and I went to the range today. We weren't shooting 9s, I found the shells and decided to try out some photos.
This is Black and white in a square format, so, it is clearly art.

Scenes From Downtown Dover: A metaphor for man'simpact

On the Green there is this tiny little garden spot. Nature totally hemmed in by man. Even the nature is not totally real, these are hybrid flowers specially bred and grown to suit our whims.
I really need to be wearing a beret and smoking dope, I'm so deep.

One of these is not like the other

I cropped, bumped the saturation and sharpened these in Picasa. They're awesome!

Portrait shots!

I want to do more portraits. My models are somewhat resistant. In the sense that "will you please get away from me with that D@mn camera" is somewhat resistant. If you're local, contact me and we'll do a shoot. I'll give you the digital files of the done photos and you'll give me a model release so I can use them to show other folks what a brilliant photographer I am.

Changed the Name Back

I'm feeling more in your face today!

What are you looking at? Lunch at the Lake Squirrel

Lunch at the Lake, Ring Billed Gull

I liked the red rim on his eye and the details in the bill. The latin name includes Delaware in it. Makes me wonder how that happened!

Fixed! Jim's Bourget Custom Harley Davidson

The white socks and loafers weren't cutting it.

Here's one from the Lunch at the Lake Series. I tweaked this one a little.

Delaware Volunteer Fireman's Memorial, Downtown Dover, DE

I took this shot the other day as something standing for the letter "D". Gotta work on "E" today. No, it won't be eggs. The set up shot is on my flickr page.

Prime Hook

Some photos I took at Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge.

This is some kind of moss I think. I'll have to check with the biologists I work with. I've never noticed any before. It reminds me of the Spanish Moss I used to see in South Carolina.

It seems one bird (an owl) had a good day, and another bird had his last day.

Rambo Peeps Tale

John Rambo never felt normal in society. It was only in the jungle that he felt safe. The woods were the next best place for him.

Rambo knew he could live off the land based on his training.

The first night out was rough. He had no time to build a shelter. Instead he found a quiet place and just rested. John felt like he was being watched.

The next day, John and the Natives met. They soon became friends and they showed John a better place to sleep.

The natives warned John to never go into the Valley of the S'mores. Unspeakable things were done by Huge beings known as "Boy Scouts" and "Girl Scouts" to Peeps that were caught in the valley of the S'mores. Peeps had been speared on sticks and slow roasted over flames, or set fire too before being covered in chocolate and graham crackers.

John used his training and showed the other Peeps how to camoflage themselves while in the Valley of the Smores.

The end.

Strobist Jim's Bourget Custom Harley

My brother in law has a Full custom Bourget motorcycle, amongst other toys. We went over to their house tonight for a bit, and he happened to be there and I had all my gear. Anyways I set this up in his driveway with a carbon based voice activated light stand (his wife, Loretta), Canon 430Ex flash, pocket wizards camera left, sunshine camera right. I'm pretty happy with the shot. I have some others posted on my Flickr page. The only thing I'm not liking is the white socks. He switched out to some cool boots he has and we added his Black Lab in the other photos. I think the light was a little overdone in the other pics, so I liked this best.

I also got some shots of him riding the bike in his development.

I want to try some stuff I saw on Scott Kelby's blog, but that'll have to be tomorrow since I'm wiped out tonight!

Waiting for the Daffodils to Bloom

We planted a bunch of these in the back yard last fall. That's a real act of faith when it's cold and you put the bulbs in the ground, wondering how they're going to look next spring. They were several different varieties, so they're in different stages of growth. There are 2 versions of this shot, one portrait and one landscape. I like the portrait version best. Check out the Bokeh!
