Raptors at Bombay Hook

Bombay Hook did their shorebird thing today. One of the displays was live raptors being kept at a facility in Maryland. These are birds that can't be returned to the wild for one reason or another.

This is a Screech owl about 6 inches tall. She looked like a toy till she moved. The red is from people standing behind her in red shirts.

How's that for a close up! This is a female Red Tailed hawk. Her other eye is missing!

This owl never quite fully opened her eyes. I like her sitting in front of the hawk to the right side of the frame.

I liked how the feathers are whorled around the eye.

Very nice pictures. I'm going to have to find out where the closest bird of pray show is to me and go make some cool shots.

A zoo might work. These birds were from a re-hab center, you might see if there is one nearby.
